Lil Wayne reveals why he didnt perform at Afro nation 2024 in Detroit
American rapper Lil Wayne has explained the reason behind his absence at Afronation 2024, despite being the headline act.
After the official announcement on May 21, 2024, that Lil Wayne would headline the Afronation Festival in Detroit, fans eagerly anticipated his performance. However, they were left stunned when the rap icon did not appear on stage.
Lil Wayne was originally scheduled to perform alongside PartyNextDoor, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Detroit’s own Kash Doll during the two-day event held at the Bedrock Douglass site on August 17 and 18, 2024.
The lineup promised a diverse mix of music styles, bringing together artists from various genres and backgrounds for an exciting weekend of performances. However, these expectations were dashed by Lil Wayne’s noticeable absence.
The rapper took to social media to explain that adverse weather conditions prevented him from making his flight to Detroit on the day he was scheduled to perform.
In his post, he expressed his disappointment and hope to see his fans in the future, stating, “Afro Nation, I am truly sorry to let you know that I will not be able to perform this evening due to weather conditions that grounded my flight to Detroit. I hope to see you again soon.”
This revelation came just hours before his highly anticipated performance on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Despite his absence, the show continued with remarkable performances by Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, and others at Afronation 2024 in Detroit.
