Libianca makes Billboard Hot 100 debut with hit single ‘People’.
Cameroonian-American singer Libianca has made her debut on the Billboard Hot 100.
Libianca’s song “People” became a global smash, it astounded everyone. The R&B song that reflects the daily challenges of a person who gives more than they take has been chosen as 2023’s first Afrobeats crossover release.
As ‘People‘ debuted at No. 91 on the Billboard Hot 100, Libianca had her first appearance there. It is now just the second Afrobeats song to appear on the chart, following pacesetter Rema’s “Calm Down,” which debuted at No. 5 and set a new African record.
Since its debut, Libianca’s “People” have made an impression in Nigeria where a remix with Omah Lay and Ayra Starr was made. Additionally, it has achieved popularity abroad, and one of its remixes features American pop artist Becky G.
With a NO. 2 peak position, “People” presently holds the record for the highest-charting African song on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The song’s remarkable accomplishments are a tribute to its excellence, which set it apart and caused listeners to connect with it.
After Tems from Nigeria and Amaarae from Ghana, she is now just the third female lead African artist to make an appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 entry.
