DJ Black Coffee Set for Lagos Show as City’s Electronic Music Scene Gains Momentum

Grammy-winning South African DJ and producer Black Coffee is set to perform in Lagos on April 5, 2026, in what is shaping up to be a major moment for the city’s growing electronic music culture.
The event, organised by MEntertainment and DAPO, is part of a broader push to showcase Lagos as more than just the global home of Afrobeats, while spotlighting its rising influence in house and electronic music.
Born Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, Black Coffee has built a global reputation as one of the leading figures in Afro house. The Durban-born DJ has graced some of the world’s most iconic venues, including DC10 Ibiza and Avant Gardner, cementing his place on the international stage.
According to the organisers, the Lagos show is part of a continued effort to grow the city’s electronic music community by blending global talent with local audiences. Over the past two years, similar events have been staged to build momentum in the scene.
One standout moment came in March 2025, when M:E Entertainment hosted the “Rampa Lagos” show featuring German DJ Rampa. The event also saw appearances from Afrobeats stars Burna Boy and Olamide, highlighting the growing crossover between electronic music and mainstream African sounds.
Organisers believe the upcoming Black Coffee performance will further strengthen Lagos’s position as a key destination for house music in Africa, complementing its already dominant influence in Afrobeats.
In recent years, Lagos has evolved into a major hub for music and nightlife, attracting both international performers and a vibrant local audience. Promoters say the city’s electronic music scene—once limited to niche club spaces—is now gaining wider recognition and appeal.
With a global career that spans festivals and venues across Europe, North America, and South America, Black Coffee’s Lagos appearance is expected to draw fans from across the region, marking another step in the city’s journey toward becoming a continental hotspot for electronic music.
