Following a 5-year hiatus, Lady Zamar Returns with Her New album, “Rainbow.”
Renowned South African artist Lady Zamar, also known as Yamikani Janet Banda, is gearing up to release her latest album following a five-year hiatus from the music scene.
Reflecting on her journey during this break, Lady Zamar expressed the challenges she faced and the freedom she found in her career.
“I found it extremely challenging, but it’s also a real career that allows me to be open and free,” she shared.
Titled “Rainbow,” the new album’s inception dates back to 2020, when LadyZamar embarked on a journey of self-discovery and musical reinvention.
“Returning to the drawing board, I focused on tracking and exploring my sound, amidst dealing with social media drama. I needed to tune into my self-awareness,” she explained.
Throughout 2021, LadyZamar underwent extensive vocal training to identify her strengths and weaknesses. Despite completing an entire album that year, she felt it didn’t meet her artistic standards, prompting her to restart the project from scratch.
The upcoming release of “Rainbow” signifies a bold comeback for LadyZamar, promising fans a rejuvenated sound and a deeper connection to her music.
Late last year, in the face of recent cyberbullying, threats, and trolling, LadyZamar faced rumours of relocating to Malawi. Reports suggested that the singer was fleeing the country after enduring months of online abuse related to her past relationship with Sjava.
Lady Zamar previously accused her ex-lover of rape, but the case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence, leading to further online harassment and accusations of dishonesty.
