Why I do not believe Wizkid and Davido feud is real – Rapper Ladipoe
Nigerian rapper Ladipoe has shared his thoughts on the ongoing feud between Afrobeats superstars Wizkid and Davido, which has been a hot topic in Nigerian pop culture.
The rivalry was reignited when Wizkid launched a series of unexpected tweets, making derogatory comments about Davido, sparking widespread discussion among fans and industry observers.
In a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, Ladipoe was asked about the situation. He revealed that he doesn’t believe the feud is genuine. Ladipoe expressed scepticism about the rivalry, suggesting that the tension between Wizkid and Davido might not be as serious as it seems, implying that the public’s perception could be exaggerated or misunderstood.
Ladipoe was asked, “What are your thoughts on the recent beef between Wizkid and Davido?”
Ladipoe suggested that the feud between Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Davido might be a strategic move to promote their music.
During his interview with City 105.1 FM, the rapper pointed out that such rivalries often serve as promotional tactics in the music industry, garnering attention and sparking public interest.
While Ladipoe admitted that he disapproved of this approach, he acknowledged its effectiveness in keeping both artists in the spotlight. He hinted that the ongoing tension between the two superstars could be part of a calculated strategy to maintain relevance and fuel excitement around their music.
Ladipoe said; “Honest truth, honestly, I have no idea. And why I say so is because this is not the first time that there has been something like this between these two juggernaut artistes y’know.
So, who is to say? And I’m not personally close to either of them to be able to look behind the veil. I’ve been somebody that has gotten to admire them from afar. I’ve definitely shaken Wizkid’s hand a couple of times.
I’ve shaken David’s hand a couple of times. And in both ways, I respect them.
You know what I feel? I fall in the fanbase that feels that they are just too savvy and business minded to not one day say “pull up, Davido and Wizkid concert or Wizkid and Davido concert”.
I just feel like una dey whine me. That’s my own personal feeling: una dey whine me. They are too big to not see the business opportunity in front of them. So, that’s my take. But whether it’s real or not, who is to say?
Beef for promoting stuff is an old tactic. It’s effective. I don’t love it personally, but it’s tried and tested, and it works. It’s not my preferred strategy, but it works.”
