Kylian Mbappe ‘has SIGNED his Real Madrid contract – and will take a PAY-CUT
According to reports from Spain, Kylian Mbappe has finalized his contract with Real Madrid, agreeing to a deal that extends until 2029 with the La Liga giants.
The French superstar, who has long been a target for the Spanish club, intensified rumors about his move after informing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last week of his decision to leave in the summer, as his contract is set to expire.
Marca has reported that Mbappe signed his contract with Madrid two weeks ago, showing a firm commitment to joining the Bernabeu outfit.
Although previous reports indicated that Madrid was prepared to make Mbappe the highest earner at the club, surpassing the £10.3 million per season paid to Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, the latest report suggests that the player will still have to accept a pay cut.
Madrid will reportedly pay a signing-on fee of around £85.5 million and engage in discussions regarding the percentage of image rights Mbappe will retain.
According to Marca, Mbappe’s representatives informed PSG not to bother with further offers to stay at the French club because a deal had already been struck with Madrid.
The report suggests that Madrid contacted Mbappe’s representatives early in the new year to confirm his intentions to join, with Mbappe responding positively. Madrid no longer considered Mbappe a signing at any cost, as they already had Vinicius Jr. and Bellingham, described as “two of the best footballers on the planet.”
However, negotiations were opened in early February, aiming to finalize the deal promptly.
Mbappe is expected to earn between £12 million and £17 million annually at Madrid, in addition to bonuses. This would entail a significant pay cut for Mbappe, who reportedly earned around £22 million per year from his lucrative contract at PSG.
