Kylian Mbappe vows to stay at PSG after winning Ligue 1 Player of the Year for fourth time in succession.
Kylian Mbappe has vowed to remain at PSG next season after being named Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the fourth time in a row.
After declining their offer to sign a new contract at PSG, the striker has been linked with a departure from the French team. Real Madrid are reportedly still interested in signing him. He claims he won’t be leaving the Ligue 1 winners this summer, though.
“Next year I will play at Paris Saint-Germain, I still have a contract, I will honour my contract,” he told reporters.
Mbappe made the declaration following his fourth consecutive victory as Ligue 1 Player of the Year at the UNFP awards presentation. Along with Lionel Messi, who was absent from the ceremony to go to a Coldplay performance in Barcelona, the 24-year-old was also nominated to the Team of the Year.
Mbappe helped the capital club win the league title once more with his 28 goals in the French premier division. Mbappe’s remarks might indicate that, despite having one year left on his PSG contract, he intends to leave the team following the 2023–24 season on a free transfer.
On June 3, when PSG plays their final game of the season against Clermont Foot, Mbappe will wrap up his time with the club.
