Korede Bello Speaks on How Poverty Kills Creativity

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Korede Bello has opened up about how poverty stifles creativity, curiosity, and innovation among young people, describing it as one of the greatest obstacles to personal and societal growth.

In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram page, the Godwin crooner reflected on how many talented individuals across Africa are unable to unlock their full potential because they are trapped in a constant battle for survival.

According to Korede, poverty doesn’t just limit resources; it also kills curiosity, which he described as the foundation of learning, exploration, and invention.

“Think about this, right? Is Elon Musk going to be so concerned about space travel if his rent was due or if he didn’t know what he was going to eat tomorrow?” he asked.

Using billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk as an example, Korede Bello questioned whether innovation could truly thrive in an environment where basic needs are not met.

He stressed that if African youths were given access to essential resources and stable living conditions, the continent would witness a massive shift in creativity and technological advancement.

The singer further noted that some of the world’s most successful figures are self-taught and driven by curiosity, not just formal education or wealth.

“If money weren’t an issue, what would you learn? What would you think about? Because the truth is, it’s a privilege to follow your curiosity when you’re not worried about surviving,” he said.

Korede concluded with a powerful reflection on the difference between existence and fulfillment:

“When you stop surviving is when you start living. If you’re still surviving, you never get to live.”

His message has since resonated widely across social media, with fans applauding him for shedding light on the deep connection between economic stability and creative freedom.
