‘I was a chubby kid who was bullied’ – Kizz Daniel makes revelation
Kizz Daniel, a popular Nigerian singer, has opened up about his experience with childhood bullying and how it affected his social life.
He revealed that as a child, he was chubby, and this led to him being made fun of and bullied by his peers to the extent that he began to stay indoors.
The singer shared that, even to this day, he still struggles with socializing due to the traumatic experiences he faced during his childhood. Kizz Daniel mentioned that he sometimes turns to alcohol as a coping mechanism to deal with social anxieties.
His candid revelation highlights the long-lasting impact that childhood bullying can have on an individual’s mental and emotional well-being. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all children to thrive and grow.
He said; “I have built a world of my own in my head since I was little. Because growing up, I was a fat kid. I was chubby. So, I don’t go out because the kids in the area make fun of me. They called me orobo (someone who is fat). And they bullied me. So I always stay indoors.
“During that time that I always stayed indoors, I’d already built this fantasy world in my head. In the world that I have built in my head, I’m very comfortable in that space.
“So, I reintroduced myself to the world after I lost weight; I lost all forms of social skills. I don’t know how to communicate. I don’t know how to socialise with people.”
