Kizz Daniel released from Police custody in Tanzania
Nigerian music sensation, Kizz Daniel real name Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, has been released from police custody in Tanzania after being arrested for failing to perform at an event for which he was paid.
He was detained at the Oysterbay Police Station under tight security.
The Chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed his release on Twitter Monday night.
Ms Dabiri-Erewa tweeted, “KD has been released . His legal team will, however, report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria”.
The singer’s management has maintained silence since the news of his arrest went viral Monday afternoon.
The Nigerians In Diaspora Commission has released an official statement confirming the release of Kizz Daniel by the Tanzanian police.
The commission however confirmed that even though Kizz Daniel had been released his lawyers would still have to visit the Tanzanian police pending ongoing investigations.
The statement read:

As previously reported by Mp3bulet.ng, Kizz Daniel was detained in Tanzania in the afternoon of Monday, August 8, 2022 after failing to appear at an event where he was scheduled to perform in front of a 3000-person capacity crowd.

According to the show’s promoter Steven Ukah, a Nigerian who spoke with media personality Daddy Freeze via an Instagram Live Chat, Kizz Daniel received payment of $60,000 for the performance.
He added that Kizz declined to perform since his suitcase from Uganda, where he had performed, had not yet arrived. It contained his clothes and valuables. Steven claims that Kizz rejected every piece of clothing that stylists in Tanzania provided him for him to wear.
Likewise, all pleas that he should perform fell on deaf ears as Kizz insisted he won’t perform without his clothes and jewellery.
