Killer Mike updates name of new album after winning three Grammys and getting arrested.
American rapper Killer Mike made headlines after winning three Grammys and subsequently updating the name of his album. The 66th Grammy Awards, held on February 5, 2024, in Los Angeles, saw Killer Mike clinch three awards.
The rapper secured the Rap Album of the Year award for his album ‘Michael,’ triumphing over competitors like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, 21 Savage, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott. Additionally, he won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for ‘Scientists & Engineers,’ featuring André 3000, Future, and Erryn Allen Kane.
Following his impressive victories in the rap categories, Killer Mike added “Rap Album of the Year” to his album name on streaming platforms to celebrate his success at the 66th Grammy Awards.
His win at the 2024 Grammys marked his first award in 20 years, and Killer Mike expressed his excitement on stage, proclaiming, “You cannot tell me that you get too old, you can’t tell me it’s too late, you can’t tell me dreams don’t come true! It is a sweep, it is a sweep, it is a sweep!”
However, the night ended on a somber note as Killer Mike was arrested at the ceremony and escorted out in handcuffs by police officers due to a reported “physical altercation” at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court.
Further details regarding the incident leading to his arrest have not been disclosed at this time.
