Ghanaian award-winning afrobeats singer Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, has revealed what inspired him to pursue music production aside from being a singer.

KiDi stated in a Twitter Space conversation with @OleleSalvador that his national service after completing his tertiary education made him realize that he needed to pursue music production full-time.

He revealed that he realized that working in the corporate world would not benefit him and was not the type of job he wanted to do with his life, so he decided to pursue a career in music production.

    He Said:

“The fact that I was doing a nine to five work was enough motivation to go into the studio and make something work. Because what the national service taught me was that this was not what I wanted to do with my life, I did not want to do a nine-to-five job, no offense to anyone doing a nine-to-five job, everybody has their path and I just believed that wasn’t mine”

The Ghanaian singer went on to say that he started experimenting with beat production and learned how to mix his R&B sounds with the Ghanaian Highlife and Hiplife genres, bringing them together to experiment and improve his sounds.

He also stated that he needed to make his sounds sound more cohesive, and the first result of his decision to make his own beats was the 2017 release “Say You Love Me.”
