“We Almost Got Married” — KCee Opens Up About His Past Relationship with Ebube Nwagbo, Family Life, and Life Before Social Media

Nigerian singer and Limpopo hitmaker KCee is peeling back the curtain on his personal life, confirming long-rumored details about his past romance with Nollywood star Ebube Nwagbo and giving fans a rare look at his family dynamics.
In a revealing conversation on the Tea With Tay podcast, KCee—whose real name is Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo—confirmed that he and Ebube were once deeply involved, sharing a relationship that was both public and serious.
“Our relationship was everywhere,” he said. “We were always on the front covers of newspapers, always seated in the front row of every red carpet show. We were close to getting married. Whatever happened, happened.”
Though he’s been married to Ijeoma Okonkwo since 2010, KCee reflected with fondness and humor on his days as a young entertainer drawn to actresses, before the dominance of social media changed the game.
“My scandals were before social media became rampant,” he joked. “I was just a young boy dating one actress. I loved actresses back then—who wouldn’t?”

Beyond his romantic history, KCee gave a rare glimpse into his family background, especially his bond with his famous younger brother, E-Money, known for his flamboyance and business acumen.
“We are four girls and three boys,” he explained. “Our first son is a pastor in Abuja who avoids social media. My sisters are all happily married—one lives in Italy, one in Canada, and one is here doing well. It’s just that E-Money and I are very close, so people think it’s just the two of us.”
The singer’s down-to-earth tone and heartfelt reflections have reignited public interest in his journey, sparking nostalgia for a time when headlines were made in newspapers—not tweets.
From almost marrying a movie star to navigating fame with family by his side, KCee’s honesty has reminded fans why he’s remained a beloved figure in the industry—not just for his music, but for the man behind it.
