Karim Benzema Wins 2022 Ballon D’Or Award.
On Monday, October, 17th, 2022, France Football named Karim Benzema as the winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or award, which was held in Paris.
The Real Madrid attacker received the honour as a result of his outstanding performance for Real Madrid during the recently finished 2021–2022 football season. The Frenchman was a vital player for the Galacticos when they defeated Liverpool to win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League in the Stade de France. He also helped France win the UEFA Nations League.

Benzema was the overwhelming favourite for the award following his goalscoring record playing for Real Madrid. He scored 48 goals and recorded 12 assists in 45 games for Madrid.
Due to his performance in the contest, the 34-year-old had previously earned UEFA Player of the Year. Sadio Mane took second place, with Kevin De Bruyne placed third.

The major omission from the nominees of this year’s award was the winner of the 2021 award ceremony, Lionel Messi. According to reports, the Argentine had poor form for PSG in the league during the 2021/22 season.
