Kanye West Blows $7m on Super Bowl Ad spot for a phone commercial
Kanye West steals the headlines once again after spending $7 million to release a low-budget commercial to promote his new Yeezys at the Super Bowl.
West’s strategic move? He didn’t splurge the rumored $7 million for a high-quality ad campaign, rather, he brought out his brilliance by shooting a 30-second commercial with a personal feel from his phone.
The clip wonderfully captures the spirit of his artistic ability and lends the advertisement an exciting feeling of liveliness and energy.
He was captured looking directly into the camera while he drove, giving listeners an engaging message that was direct and concise.
He said, “Hey y’all, this is Ye, and this is my commercial,” he said. “And since we spent all the money on the commercial spot, we actually — we didn’t spend any money on the actual commercial. But the idea is I want you to go to yeezy.com.”
He then spelled it out for viewers and added, “I’m gonna write it at the bottom of the screen and I got some shoes and mmmm that’s it.”
With companies like Oreo, Uber Eats, Mountain Dew, and Dunkin’ Donuts shelling out an average of $7 million each to showcase the elegance of their products, fans saw Kanye West’s homemade addition to the event as a brilliant marketing move.
Super Bowl LVIII was an exciting event, but West’s commercial took the spotlight, and there was no denying its powerful effect.
