Kai Havertz reveals Arsenal dressing room’s thoughts on Premier League title race
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz emphasized that he and his teammates are solely focused on their own performance in the Premier League title race.
Following Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Brentford at home, which propelled them to the top of the table, Havertz highlighted their commitment to concentrating on their own results. Despite a brief setback when Brentford equalized, Havertz secured the win with a late goal, securing Arsenal’s eighth consecutive Premier League victory.
With this triumph, Arsenal moved one point ahead of Liverpool and two points ahead of Manchester City, setting the stage for an intense battle for the title. Havertz, speaking to Sky Sports after the match, underlined the importance of maintaining their focus amidst the competitive race for the championship.
“Massive win for us. These points were so important for us and you could see that in the second half. We didn’t play our best in the first half but it’s even better to win it this way,” Havertz began when talking about Saturday’s victory.
“It’s always nice to have three points in the bag. We talked a lot about this in the dressing room. We want to focus on ourselves because we cannot change what the other teams are doing. We go into the other competition in the week and hopefully it’s a good night for us.”
The game’s tone shifted when Ramsdale, who was only added back to the starting lineup because David Raya was ineligible to play against his original club, gave Brentford the equalizer, but Havertz tried to defend the goalie.
“It wasn’t nice especially after conceding so close to the whistle,” Havertz added. “We spoke to each other and wanted to turn it around. Mistakes are part of the game. I have made mistakes that lead to goals. We showed a good mentality from the first second of the second half.”
