K1 De Ultimate apologises over Abuja Airport altercation

Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a public apology for his involvement in a confrontation with ValueJet staff at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja earlier this week.
In a video released on Friday, August 8, 2025, and obtained by Channels Television, the veteran artiste described the incident as “regrettable,” admitting fault and taking “full responsibility” for his actions.
“I take full responsibility for all incidents. Once again, I seek forgiveness from Mr President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who’s also my father and father of the nation, the Honourable Minister for Aviation, the pilot, the airline, the airline staff, passengers, and above all, my fans across the globe, my family, for the incident,” he said.
K1 explained that the container at the centre of the dispute contained water, which his doctor had advised him to drink frequently for health reasons. Acknowledging that his behaviour fell short of expectations, he reiterated his dedication to the country’s image, stating:
“My love for the country is unshakable. I am still the darling ambassador of our nation, and I’ll continue to carry the banner of this great country everywhere all my life.”
His apology comes in the wake of directives from Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo to place him on a no-fly list pending a full investigation. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also written to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, seeking possible prosecution for what it described as unruly conduct.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), K1 attempted to board a Lagos-bound ValueJet flight with a liquid-filled flask later alleged to contain alcohol, contrary to aviation regulations. FAAN further alleged that he spilled the liquid on a security officer and obstructed the aircraft from taxiing, an action the aviation minister compared to “a hostage situation.”
The NCAA has since suspended two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident, citing breaches of safety protocols.
Despite the ongoing controversy, K1 De Ultimate maintained that he remains committed to representing Nigeria positively and appealed to the public for understanding and forgiveness over the ValueJet incident.
