K.O reacts to a report of Hip Hop not peaking.
Rapper K.O has responded to reports that Hip Hop hasn’t reached its height, even internationally. SA hip hop suffered on charts over time as Amapiano’s massive momentum swept it off.
Rappers like K.O, Nasty C, Emtee, and the late AKA kept the flame of rap music alive, but in recent months it’s been a different story.
Mr. CashTime was sparked by a US article that stated, “No Hip Hop album or song has hit no. 1 in 2023”. The rap sensation was upset by the information, which implied that worse yet was ahead.
“A trickle-down effect sadly. Already been tough for mainstream hip-hop in SA and clearly, the worst is yet to come seeing this is the current state of US hip-hop. SA rappers oughta adapt or get left,” he wrote.
But the majority of his supporters disagree, arguing that since rappers like Drake have yet to release an album this year, it is natural that no rap song will be the number-one hit.

Furthermore, With his number-one single, Sete, K.O commemorates yet another accomplishment, when the rapper dropped the single in 2022 with Young Stunna and Blxckie, it became an instant hit, topping music charts and jumping from gold to platinum in less than a month.
Mr. CashTime revealed on social media on Monday that the song has received 81 million streams overall.
“Cheers to 81 million streams across the board for #SETE,” he wrote and appreciated the other musicians who featured him.
