Juventus Seal Deal for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.
Juventus have announced the signing of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.
The Brazilian international, currently playing in the Copa América in the United States, completed a medical and signed a five-year contract with the Turin club.
Juventus confirmed that they agreed to a fee of €50 million ($53.5 million) with Aston Villa for Luiz.
Aston Villa aimed to finalize Luiz’s transfer before June 30 to meet their Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) obligations. Consequently, Brazil’s Football Federation (CBF) permitted Luiz to undergo a medical in Las Vegas, Nevada, ahead of Friday’s group game against Paraguay.
Juventus faced competition from AC Milan to sign Luiz, who scored nine goals and provided five assists in 35 league appearances, helping Villa secure a Champions League spot for next season.

The 26-year-old began his career at Vasco da Gama before joining Manchester City in 2017 on a five-year deal. However, he never made a first-team appearance for City and spent two seasons on loan at Girona before moving to Aston Villa in 2019.
During his tenure at Villa, Luiz scored 20 goals in 175 appearances. He was on the bench for Brazil’s goalless draw against Costa Rica in their Copa América opener on Monday.
Additionally, in a separate deal, Juventus‘ Argentine midfielder Enzo Barrenechea and English striker Samuel Iling-Junior have joined Aston Villa on permanent transfers.
