Nigerian singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has opened up about how deliberately slowing down to spend time with his daughter has quietly transformed his perspective on both life and work.

In a heartfelt reflection shared on social media, the singer spoke about how fast children grow and how easy it is for parents to miss the little changes along the way.

According to him, it’s often not until big moments that the first crawl, the first steps, the first words that time suddenly feels like it’s slipping through your fingers.

Johnny Drille admitted that the past year had been especially demanding. Between constant travel and long hours in the studio, balancing his career with family life became an ongoing struggle. Even on days he was physically at home, he confessed that truly meaningful family time was hard to come by.

But one particular day changed something for him. On that day, he made a conscious choice to completely step away from work and focus only on being a father. No studio sessions, no multitasking, just presence. He called it a “Dad Day,” a moment carved out solely for his daughter.

What surprised him most was how deeply fulfilling the experience turned out to be. The joy he felt caught him off guard, revealing a sense of happiness he didn’t realise he had been missing all along.

Spending uninterrupted time with his daughter, Amaris, reminded him just how important it is to be present during these brief, irreplaceable stages of childhood.

Johnny Drille’s honest reflection struck a chord with many fans, especially working parents who often juggle demanding careers with family life.

His message gently underscores a simple truth: sometimes, stepping back from work isn’t a loss at all, but a path to deeper personal fulfillment.
