Asa didn’t reach out before slamming N300m suit on me – Joeboy

Joeboy discusses the $300 million lawsuit Asa filed against him.
Joeboy, whose real name is Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, has declared that the charge made by French music sensation Asa that he stole her intellectual property is untrue.
You might recall that Asa issued him a copyright infringement notice and requested N300 million in damages, alleging that his newly released song, Contour, was ripped off from a composition she recorded on September 22nd, 2020. She also claimed that she had recorded the song on that date.
But in a recent interview with Pulse, Joeboy clarified the situation and said that the beat she said was supplied to him by producer Tempoe.
According to the artiste, Tempoe sent him five beats and he picked one, which he recorded on, mixed and mastered, but that was the one Asa said he stole.
“So I and Tempoe talk a lot. How far Tempoe send me beat, he sent me five beat, I pick one, I record on it We finish the song, mix and master.. Oya lets clear the song, we cleared it, I did everything i needed to do. Couple of months later, I get a mail, that I infringed on a copyright blah blah, that I need to remove the song in 24hrs and I should write a written apology. I was like eh!, ” he said.

He said the songstress did not try to reach out to him to iron out issues before her management sent him an email with the suit attached.
However, the ‘Baby’ hitmaker said that he refused to respond to the email and did not write an apology as requested.
When asked if he reached out To Tempoe to get clarification on the whole matter, Joeboy said;
“Immediately I saw the mail, I called him, I was like Yo, how far? what’s going on? Tempoe said he was the one, It is my beat that there was no chance.”
