I was so broke, I had to close my account – Singer Joeboy on bankruptcy
In an interview, Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, said that he sees himself as one of the biggest artists coming out of Africa right now and spoke candidly about having to battle with bankruptcy at one time in his career.
The musician stated that even though he is currently one of the top artists coming out of Africa, there was a period when he was broke and had to take down his account. This is despite the fact that his recently released album Body & Soul is still receiving enormous attention.
Joeboy took advantage of the conversation to urge anyone who is going through a difficult financial moment to not take their own life because a day will come when everything will make sense.
He said, “I’m one of the biggest artistes out of Africa right now but there was a time I hit rock bottom. I had no money. I was so broke, I had to close my [bank] account.
“I just want to use this story as motivation for anybody going through difficulties at this point in time. Don’t try to end things. It can always get better. And that’s for sure. I’m a living example.”
