JFT Tells a Calm Love Story on Afro-Fusion Single “Touch”

JFT has released a new single, Touch. The sound blends Afro-fusion, Afrobeats, and reggaeton, making it easy to listen to and hard to forget.

JFT continued to make his effort noticeable on “Touch,” released on January 30th, 2026, and it is a song that feels soft, slow, and deeply emotional. Instead of loud beats or fast singing, Touch takes its time.

The song is about attraction, liking someone so much that even a small moment feels powerful.

It explains the feeling of wanting someone but choosing not to rush into things, allowing emotions to grow naturally.

JFT draws inspiration from artists like Chronixx, Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Burna Boy, Victony, Rema, Lauryn Hill, Rod Wave, and Wizkid. These influences are evident in the song’s relaxed confidence. Like Wizkid and Burna Boy, JFT knows how to make calm music feel powerful.

Like Chronixx and Popcaan, there is a reggae and Caribbean touch that adds warmth. The emotional depth found in Lauryn Hill and Rod Wave also appears in the honest delivery of the lyrics.

The lyrics of Touch focus on how one girl makes the singer feel overwhelmed in a good way. Lines like:

“She burst my head, I see this light girl”
“Girl you dey drive me loco better”
“You dey burst my medulla, you dey burst my cellular”

These words use playful expressions to describe intense attraction. Saying someone “bursts my head” means they are so special that they leave you speechless. When he sings:

“Never seen a fine girl like you, make you be my lady”

it becomes clear that this is admiration mixed with hope. The lyrics are simple and repeated, which makes them easy to remember and sing along to.

    Sound, Rhythm, and Feel

Produced by Genius Lil Manna, Touch uses soft beats, gentle drums, and a looping hook that keeps playing in your head. The song does not change too fast. Instead, it slowly pulls you in, like a late-night conversation or a quiet dance moment. This style matches the theme of the song, wanting someone without rushing them.

The addition of Palas brings a Spanish verse that adds flavor without breaking the mood. The Latin touch blends smoothly with the Afrobeats sound, giving the song a global feel. This makes Touch easy to enjoy whether you are listening alone, with friends, or on repeat.

One interesting thing about Touch is that it was created almost five years ago but was allowed to grow naturally. JFT did not rush to release it. Instead, they waited until it felt complete. This patience shows in how balanced the song sounds. Nothing feels forced. Every part fits.

The track also sits comfortably next to global Afro-inspired hits like Rema’s “Calm Down”, sharing a relaxed tempo and smooth groove that makes you want to listen again and again.

    Who Are JFT?

JFT is an Afro-Fusion duo formed by two friends who went to the same secondary school. Even though one member lives in London and the other in Ghana, distance has never stopped them. Through video calls and shared creativity, they continue to make music together. Their bond is built on friendship, faith, and trust, and that unity reflects in their sound.
