Jason Derulo is drawing a firm line around his personal and professional space after a long, draining legal battle, he says, has reshaped how he works and how he protects himself.

Speaking candidly in a new interview with Graham Bensinger on Tuesday, the American singer revealed that he has now introduced strict boundaries in the workplace—boundaries he never imagined he would need.
According to Derulo, the decision stems from nearly two years of living under the shadow of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by aspiring artist Emaza Dilan.
Though the case was dismissed on procedural grounds in both California and Nevada, Derulo says the damage was already done. The lawsuit has since been refiled in New York, keeping him entangled in yet another round of legal back-and-forth.
The emotional and financial toll, he says, has been enormous.
“I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again,” Derulo stated, explaining how the ordeal has forced him to rethink even the most ordinary professional interactions.
He did not hide his frustration. “That case was dismissed twice,” he said. “And I lost so many brand deals, relationships, over a story that was not even slightly believable. Why didn’t they post the dismissal at least? Wouldn’t that be fair?”
To him, the imbalance is clear: the accusations made headlines, but the dismissals barely registered in the public eye. And while the court has yet to evaluate the allegations on their merits, the reputational fallout has lingered.
Derulo says the experience has pushed him to adopt a level of caution he never anticipated, especially around women he collaborates with.
The scrutiny, he admits, has altered the way he navigates meetings, studio sessions, and business conversations, all in an effort to protect himself from further risk.
Beyond the emotional strain, he also lamented the business setbacks he has endured. Sponsorships slipped away, partnerships dissolved, and several industry relationships grew tense, all, he insists, over claims he believes were unfounded.
As the newly refiled case continues its course in New York, Derulo says he only hopes for a fair assessment of the facts.
But until then, he’s choosing vigilance, guarding his space and reputation as tightly as he can while he works to rebuild the stability that once defined his career.
