Jae5 defends Burna Boy’s payment of royalties to Toni Braxton
British Producer, Jae5 has come to the defence of Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy after trolls mocked the latter for paying over 60 per cent of his song royalties to Toni Braxton.
Recall that Mp3bullet.ng reported that Burna boy recently dropped a bombshell over his sampling of Toni Braxton’s music for his song, “Last Last“.
In an interview with the Million Dollar Worth of Game podcast, Burna Boy confessed that it was his idea to sample her music.
According to him, he had always wanted to sample “He wasn’t Man Enough” and engaged Chopstix to work on it because he knew the producer could make it happen.
He described the experience as a special creative process.
The singer then proceeded to drop the bombshell that Toni Braxton earns 60% off the royalties thanks to the sample.
This revelation earned criticism from critics who termed the Grammy winner as desperate for losing such a huge amount of royalties.
A critic took to Twitter to give a breakdown of the sharing of the royalties and how many per cent goes to Burna.
He wrote;
“Tony Braxton 60%
Atlantic 30%
Burna 10%
This is what you get when you’re desperate.
Sample man ????”
However, Jae5 quoted the tweet saying that the royalties Toni Braxton earns are only taken from the publishing deals and that fans shouldn’t be misled by the critic’s tweet.
“60 per cent on the publishing side don’t be misled by this tweet.
Other earnings will still be there same.”

In another tweet, he revealed why he understands and supports Burna’s decision to allow Braxton to earn such a large percentage.
According to him, he would preferably earn 10% of something big than own 100% of something small.
He stated that while ownership is amazing. one shouldn’t let that mentality be a hindrance to one’s blessings.
In his words;
“I’d rather 10% of something big than 100% of something small! Ownership is amazing but sometimes don’t let that mentality block your blessing. I see that shit a lot trust me”
