Chelsea sign Jadon Sancho from Man Utd on loan with obligation to buy
Chelsea have finalized the signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. The winger joins the Blues on loan with an obligation to buy, with reports indicating that Manchester United could receive a fee of up to £25 million.
The deal was confirmed at 19:30 on Saturday, nearly 24 hours after the transfer window officially closed.
Jadon Sancho: “I’m really excited to be here. London is where I grew up and I’m happy to be back. The manager spoke to me about the project and, for a young player, it’s exciting. Hopefully I can bring goals and assists to the Bridge.”
“Chelsea is iconic. My idols growing up were Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and now I have the opportunity to play for this club like them. It’s a great feeling.”
“I think it’s the manager who really drew me to the project. He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

Sancho leaves United despite regaining his place in Erik ten Hag’s plans during pre-season. After being sidelined from the first-team setup last year and spending time on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he performed well, Sancho was reintegrated into the squad this summer.
However, he was excluded from United’s matchday squad for their first two Premier League games of the season, leading to his pursuit of a move away.
Juventus had shown strong interest in Sancho but ultimately failed to agree on terms, paving the way for his switch to Chelsea. Sancho departs United with 12 goals in 83 appearances.
Born in London, this marks the first time Sancho will be affiliated with a club in the English capital. He began his career with Watford, just outside of London, before moving to Manchester City, Dortmund, and then United.
As Sancho arrives at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea has agreed to let Raheem Sterling join their London rivals, Arsenal, on loan for the 2024/25 season.
