Nigerian artist and songwriter, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has unveiled the release date for his upcoming album, “Once Upon a Cat.” Set to debut on February 2, 2024, the 13-track album promises an immersive experience, as Iyanya also commits to releasing accompanying visuals for all the songs on the same day.

Featuring emerging talents from Nigeria such as Young Duu, Qing Madi, and others, the album showcases Iyanya’s dedication to providing a platform for younger artists. Emphasizing this commitment, Iyanya expressed his intention to ensure that each of the 13 tracks is accompanied by a music video, allowing the featured artists to shine and showcase their talents on February 2, 2024.

In his post on social media, Iyanya said, “Shot 13 videos for a 13 Track Album. I didn’t want to FT all the very Talented young artists and not push out visuals. 2nd Feb we drop 13 Track Album with 13 Videos same day. Get ready for it”

Iyanya is showcasing a determined and focused commitment to his career this year, underscoring his serious approach and zero tolerance for taking chances. The album cover for “Once Upon a Cat” boldly showcases the names of all the collaborating artists involved in Iyanya’s latest project. Despite facing criticism from some fans and music enthusiasts, he stands resolute in his decision not to include established or big-name artists in his new album.

The Nigerian singer firmly defends his choice, emphasizing that he intentionally selected artists whom he envisions as becoming significant names in the future of the Nigerian music scene. This strategic decision reflects Iyanya’s belief in nurturing emerging talents and contributing to the growth and evolution of the music industry.

Via social media, he said, “Sometimes you wonder how people think. I featured some of the most talented artists you will ever meet in the nearest future on my project and some of you are complaining I didn’t get big names on the project. Music is to me is not about big names is about making good music. I promise you will be happy with your ears after listening to this project. This is a masterpiece project and I can’t wait for 12:am on Friday for you to hear it”
