Davido Reveals He Has Never Met Nicki Minaj Despite Collaborating Twice
Afrobeat superstar Davido has made a surprising revelation—he has never met Nicki Minaj in person, despite working with the American rapper on two different songs.
Speaking on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Davido shared how their collaboration began, explaining that he first noticed Nicki Minaj following him on Instagram and decided to reach out.
“You know the crazy thing? I have never met her [Nicki Minaj]. It’s crazy. We speak on the phone all the time. The first time we linked was through DM,” he revealed.
According to Davido, their first collaboration happened in 2019 or 2020 when he messaged her about a song, and to his surprise, she responded the next morning.
“I told her I had a song for us, and she said she was interested. I sent her the record, and two days later, she sent me her verse.”
The duo had plans to shoot a music video in Los Angeles, but it didn’t materialize as Nicki was expecting her baby at the time. However, their friendship remained strong, leading to another collaboration on Nicki’s “Pink Friday 2” anniversary album in 2023.
“She’s always supportive. She’s amazing,” Davido added, appreciating the rapper’s continued encouragement.
