Graham Potter provides an update on Mason Mount contract negotiations amid Liverpool transfer rumours.
Graham Potter provides an update on Mason Mount contract with Chelsea and claims that the circumstances are “complicated” given that the England international has been linked to Liverpool.
The 24-year-old playmaker is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2024, but no extension has been reached with the product of the renowned youth system of the Blues.
Potter thinks that Mount and his agents can still achieve a settlement that works for all parties despite reports that the impasse is drawing interest from beyond the area from Premier League teams looking for creative additions.
The Chelsea boss told reporters when asked for an update on discussions with Mount: “It’s always complicated. I’ll leave it between Mason and the club. He’s been fantastic to work with. Of course, I hope it gets resolved quickly.”

In order for Chelsea to recuperate some of the money they spent in recent transfer windows, it may be necessary for Mount to be sold in the summer when the club still has the option to demand a price.
Another player who could be leaving is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Potter maintains that the Gabonese striker still has a part to play right now.
He said of the forward who has registered just three goals this season and was left out of Chelsea’s 25-man Champions League squad: “Pierre remains an important part of this squad, nothing is set in stone, his attitude has been really good.”
Chelsea want someone to provide an attacking spark after scoring only six goals in ten games since competitive football returned after the World Cup break.
