Israel DMW criticizes those mocking Davido over Grammy loss
Israel Afeare, better known as Israel DMW, Davido’s logistics manager has aimed at people making fun of the singer after his disappointing debut at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Remember that on Sunday at the 66th Grammy Awards, Davido lost all three of his nominations?
Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain’s “Pashto” took home the Best Global Music Performance award instead of him. Additionally, Shakti’s “This Moment” won the Best Global Music Album prize instead of him.
Tyla, a 22-year-old South African musician, defeated Davido and other Nigerian nominees to win the first-ever Best African Music Performance award.
Online music reviewers and social media users reacted negatively to the poor performances of Nigerian artists at the Grammy Awards; many made fun of Davido in particular.
Israel DMW retaliated by reminding people who were making fun of his employer that not every Grammy is given out based on talent.
He claimed that Davido was utilized by the Grammy organizers for publicity.
In an Instagram story post, he wrote: “You’re completely mocking yourself, if you think you’re mocking my oga [Davido], in an already well programmed event, where oga’s name had to even been used as publicity.
“Look at your life in the next 20 years, if you’ will be will be better than oga, in any way. Look at the life of some past awardees, if they ever merited it.”
