Sidhu Moose Wala killed in a gun-related incident.
Sidhu Moose Wala, an Indian rapper with over four billion views on YouTube, was shot and killed while sitting in the driver’s seat of his car.
According to the Hindustan Times, the passenger also died of gunshot wounds, implying that the murder was gang-related.
VK Bhawra, Punjab’s chief of police, said at least 30 rounds of gunshots were fired into the car.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was killed while driving his car in Mansa, a district in Punjab state in northern India, on Sunday evening. Moose Wala, 28, was brought to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The homicide was discovered to be an inter-gang feud, according to Punjab state’s top police official VK Bhawra.
According to local media accounts, the Punjab government had withdrawn security cover for over 400 people, including Moose Wala, a day before the attack in an effort to crackdown on VIP culture.

Graphic videos circulating on social media show a crowd of people gathered around Wala’s vehicle, with him covered in blood and dead inside.
Wala had recently become a politician and used his position to promote gun culture. Earlier this month, he posted a photo on Twitter showing him holding a gold gun.
Moose Wala started off as a songwriter before a hit song in 2017 catapulted his singing career, making him well known among the Indian and Punjabi diaspora in countries like the United Kingdom and Canada.
Tributes for the late rapper have begun to flow, with Drake sharing a photo of Wala on Instagram along with the caption, “RIP Moose.”
Others have described him as “a legend”.
