if Runtown can be serious, he will be in the conservation with the top 3 such like Wizkid, Burna Boy & Davido

One thing is to achieve success and fame; another is to preserve that achievement, improve upon it, and strive to remain at the top, consistence is what is keeping Runtown not to be as huge as Wizkid.

The Nigerian music industry is one of the most difficult to succeed in, which is why we have a hit virtually every day.

Runtown, whose full name is Douglas Jack Agu, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer who blends hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and rap into his music.

The musician, who is from Enugu State, rose to prominence after collaborating with Davido on the song ‘Gallardo,’ and his most recent single, ‘Mad Over You,’ has become a smash.

Runtown’s debut album, ‘Ghetto University,’ was likewise a smash hit, earning him the title of “one to watch” in 2017, according to industry insiders.

Runtown was born in Enugu on August 19, 1989, but grew up in Abuja and Lagos, where he completed his primary school education.

He came to Abuja with his mother, who worked in the Ministry of Health, when his father died.

He moved to Enugu in 2005 because his mother became interested in politics; he completed his high school education in Enugu State.

Runtown is rumored to be pursuing a degree in fashion management at a New York City fashion school.

In 2007, the ‘bend down pause’ singer went from Enugu to Lagos with his long-time friend Phyno, and began recording underground collaborations with Timaya and J-Martins in hopes to break into the Nigerian music scene.

In 2007, Runtown released his first single, “Runtown,” which was produced by Soge.

He formed a record label called Penthauz with Phyno in 2008, during which he released his first two tracks, ‘Party Like It’s 1980’ and ‘Activity Pikin.’ IvanEdd directed the video for his 2010 single “Forever.”

    J. Martins collaborated with Runtown on the song ‘Tonight’ from his ‘Elevation’ album, and he also collaborated with Phyno on the song ‘Anam-Achi Vers-Achi,’ which was produced by WizzyPro.

On January 29, 2014, Runtown teamed up with Davido to release ‘Gallardo,’ a song produced by T-Spize that catapulted him to fame.

Runtown’s career took a significant stride forward after he acquired a recording contract with Eric-Manny Entertainment through a mutual friend, releasing the singles “Successful” and “Domot,” which gained widespread exposure.

WizzyPro’s single ‘Emergency,’ which also included Skales and Patoranking, featured Runtown.

WizzyPro was in charge of the song’s production.

Runtown’s debut studio album, ‘Ghetto University,’ was released on November 23, 2015. DJ Khaled, Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru, and Anatii all made appearances at Ghetto University.

The album made him one of Nigeria’s “Top Five Most Streamed Artists,” with over N35 million in revenue on MTN Music Plus.

In November 2016, Runtown released ‘Mad Over You,’ which became an instant hit on local and international airways, earning him a spot on Billboard Twitter Top Tracks in the first week of 2017, at number 38.
