Multi-award-winning singer Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, believes he has already made a significant mark in the Afrobeats music genre and considers himself a potential addition to the Afrobeats Hall of Fame.

While he has no intentions of quitting music at the moment, Rema is confident that if he did, his name would still be prominently featured in the Afrobeats legacy.

In an article featured in the fourth edition of The New Wave issue of i-D Magazine, the 23-year-old artist expressed his belief that his contributions to Afrobeats have been so impactful that he would be featured on the front page of the “New Testament” if there were an “Afrobeats bible.”

Rema also reflected on his journey in the music industry, noting how he was initially ridiculed for his Bollywood-soundtrack-themed sound when he gained fame in 2019. However, he persevered, and his unique style eventually became a blessing, allowing him to make a global impact on Afrobeats.

He shared, “Everything they doubted, everything they laughed at me for, I built on it. They called me Indian Boy; I went to India. I’m the first artist to shut down four cities in India, 5000 capacity and above. No one can deny that I’ve impacted Afrobeats on a global scale.”
