Young Duu claims he would rather work with Carter Efe than Portable
Fast-rising Nigerian artist Oluwabamishe Abioro, known as Young Duu, has made a clear preference regarding potential collaborations with his mentors. In an interview with Hip TV, he expressed his inclination towards collaborating with skit maker Carter Efe over singer Portable.
This decision follows Young Duu’s public callout of Carter for not compensating him for their previous music collaboration, titled ‘Oyinmo‘. Despite not receiving payment from the ‘Machala‘ crooner, the 20-year-old artist revealed his desire to work with Carter Efe, citing Carter’s influence and extensive network compared to Portable.
Young Duu’s musical journey began before gaining prominence in 2023 when he secured a record label deal with Zeh Nation, owned by the popular and controversial street pop artist Portable.
However, disagreements arose, and Portable claimed Young Duu hadn’t contributed to the label’s success since signing with them. Consequently, Young Duu left Zeh Nation for Nigerian comedian and singer Carter Efe. Together, they released the hit song ‘Oyinmo’, which garnered significant attention across music streaming platforms.
Comparing Carter with Portable, he said, “I will rather work with Carter Efe than with Portable because he has more connections and if he is ready to do something, he do it.”
“It is not that Portable does not have connections, he has connections too but I know what I’m saying”.
