Omah Lay Speaks on Being Suicidal and Depressed.
Sensational Nigerian singer and songwriter Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has opened out about his struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide.
The Port Harcourt-bred act continues to use its platform to agitate for Mental Health.
The musician has often stated that the 14-track “Boy Alone” project was developed out of anguish. The album featured superstars like Justin Bieber and Tay Iwar and was released in the second half of 2022.
The artist reiterated in a recent interview that he struggled with mental health issues at one time in his life, to the point that he even considered suicide.
The artist claims that going through that terrible time aided him in writing the right songs for everyone going through that time.
Speaking about how his music is frequently referred to as “Afro-Depression,” the unfazed Omah Lay said that this is because Afrobears is overhyped, which is why he prefers to bring depth, soul, and reality to the table with his approach.
