Nigerian talented singer Omah Lay has revealed and opened up about how he came to understand the deeper meaning of the heartbreaking lyrics behind his emotive hit song Soso.

The Afro-soul genius discussed the terrible situation that gave rise to Soso’s lyrics in an interview with Hey Steph TV.

He said the song was made when his world was falling apart and he was unable to make sense of anything.

Omah Lay emphasized that because of a load of grief, it was nearly hard for him to explain why he was going through the things he was.

He said “I was in pain, so much pain, when I was writing this song. I was just in a place where I was losing my mind. “I was smoking a lot, way too much. I was down. You know when they say, when you exhaust… there was really nothing in life that was nice at the time.”

When the interviewer asked about the meaning of the line “water no get enemy, till you fall for oshimiri,” Omah Lay said that although water is sometimes assumed to be harmless, it may be fatal if one falls into an ocean.

Omah Lay continued by saying that “Oshimiri” alludes to a river and that if you find yourself in a little pool of water, it can become an adversary very fast.
