Spyro Pushes Back Against Industry Norms with Clean Music Pledge

Nigerian singer Spyro, born Oludipe David, has reaffirmed his commitment to making clean, value-driven music in an industry often dominated by explicit content and controversial themes.
In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, the “Who’s Your Guy?” hitmaker emphasized that his artistic mission is rooted in positivity, faith, and integrity.
“I want to be known for clean music, clean visuals, clean everything,” Spyro stated. “My goal is to be that guy who stood for something different in the music industry.”
Spyro also urged up-and-coming artists not to sacrifice their values in pursuit of fame or fortune. “Many think success requires compromise, but I’m living proof that you can stay clean and still thrive,” he said. “It’s not about the music style—it’s about knowing your God.”
A vocal Christian, Spyro has never shied away from expressing his faith. At the 77th Headies Awards, he made headlines by walking the red carpet with a Bible in hand, a symbolic gesture that reflected his unwavering beliefs. “We’re not ashamed of the gospel,” he explained. “I’m always with my Jesus boy cap and pendant. No Jesus, no life.”
While he clarified that he doesn’t carry a Bible everywhere, Spyro said, “I’m a walking Bible. But tonight, I just wanted to make a bold statement.”
Spyro’s stance has made him a unique voice in Afrobeats, proving that music with a moral compass can still resonate deeply with fans and make waves on the charts.
