How Pheelz went from an iconic producer to an amazing artiste

Phillip Kayode Moses born in Lagos State, better known as Pheelz, is a Nigerian record producer,  and now an amazing singer and songwriter

How Pheelz went from an iconic producer to an amazing artiste

Pheelz started having a passion for music at the age of 10 when he learned to play musical instruments in the Church.

He had developed his talent while surrounding himself with like minds and positive influence.

It’s not surprising that he is a talented singer and has shown that in the release of some of his singles such as Honey, Hustle, Gobe, Rep Adugbo and so on.

He had worked under the Nigerian veteran music producer, I.D Cabasa in Coded Tunes, the record label where he met Olamide.

Pheelz Mr producer as fondly called finally came to the limelight as a record producer in 2012 after producing Olamide’s hit single “First of all” off his YBNL album.

He was also known for producing most of the songs on Olamide’s “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” album.

Pheelz realized he needs to step up his game most especially when there are already many of emerging talents like Cracker Mallo, Speroach beatz, Fresh VDM, Killertunes, Krizbeatz, Masterkraft, Young john and many others.

He brought out a new ‘Slogan’, ‘Signature’ and ‘new intro’ which he called “Ridimahkool” as pronounced at the beginning and end of the song.

He is also credited with other notable albums such as Olamide “Street OT” and “Eyan Mayweather”, M.I “The Chairman”, Seyi Shay “Seyi or Shay”, Fireboy DML “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps” and so on.

He has produced top charting singles such as Teni “Billionaire“, Fireboy DML “Party Scatter”, Tiwa Savage “49-99“, Kizz daniel & Adekunle Gold “Jore“, Lil Kesh “Shoki”, Olamide “Durosoke” and many others.

A debut project by a renowned music producer for over a decade,  “Pheelz Mr producer Aaah” in Olamide‘s voice, or “Ridimakulayo” as his beats production tag suggests, now delivering a well-balanced, articulated, and well-written songs,  hence this question, ‘was Pheelz very intentional on every song Or was he just trying to find a new place as a singer?  Let me break it down.

At first listen,  I stared in open-mouthed curiosity and paused to reminisce about his career as a producer and how he’s responsible for producing over 50 hit songs in the industry (not exaggerating), then my excitement drops down like I’m not surprised, but I still thought about some producers that wanted to do it and didn’t get it right, then my excitement went up again.

Pheelz intentionally wants to express himself and show the world he’s not just a producer but a singer also, no features, not even a single artist from YBNL, perhaps to avoid derivative misconceptions, Pheelz came straight like he’s been here singing for a decade, perfect like an OG, mature lyricism, smooth flows, choice of beats and general composition, however, every track on the project were singlehandedly written, produced and performed by him.

Unlocking Finesse’s single opened doors for him as a superstar in the Nigerian music industry.

Recently, Pheelz and Gen Z pop star, Ayra Starr have both unlocked a new achievement as they secure their first ever nomination on the BET Awards platform under the category of Best New International Act.
