Nathaniel Bassey Fends Off Alleged “Juju Man” in Dramatic Encounter on Express Road

Nigerian gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey has shared a dramatic account of how he reportedly fended off an attempt by a traditional spiritualist whom he described as a “juju man” to place him under a spell.
The incident, according to Bassey, took place along an expressway and marked the second time the same individual had confronted him.
During a worship session, the pastor recounted that the man knocked on his car and began casting what he called an enchantment, seemingly attempting to compel him to “do something.”
“I just stood there and laughed,” Bassey said, explaining that he countered the attempt by declaring Bible verses. He cited passages affirming divine protection, including one that states: “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”
The cleric noted that the man lingered at the scene, apparently waiting for the spell to take effect. But Bassey, drawing strength from scripture, referenced another verse: “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel,” reinforcing his belief that the attempt would fail.
He eventually stepped out of his car and ordered the man to leave immediately. Reflecting on the encounter, Bassey admitted he regretted not holding the individual until law enforcement could intervene.
“I don’t know how we knew, but this was the second time that this same guy, the ‘juju man,’ was coming. One time on the express road, he came and knocked. He was casting an enchantment, hoping that it would influence me. He was commanding me to do something, but I just stood there and laughed.
“I said, didn’t they tell you that as they went from one kingdom to another, He suffered no man to do them wrong; He rebuked kings for their sake, saying, ‘Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm’?
“I just regretted that I should have kept him there for the police. While he was there, he was waiting for the spell to work on me. But Numbers 23:23 says there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel.
“I came out of my car and ordered him to get out of here, you dirty devil, quick. I’m not saying this to boast, but while we do not glorify the devil, there is wickedness in the world.”
Bassey used the story to highlight his belief in spiritual vigilance, noting that while he does not glorify evil, the encounter underscores the existence of spiritual wickedness and the protective power of faith.
