Mp3bullet shares opinion on how Burna Boy has broken records with his consistency in the music industry for years.

Getting to the A list scene in the Nigerian music industry was a thing of consistency, determination, and perseverance for Burna.

Like every other singer, Burna Boy started from the little beginnings but desired to be the musical “African Giant”, and with consistency, he paid his dues.

Emerging into the scene with ‘Like To Party’, the lead single off his debut studio album, L.I.F.E – Oluwa Burna was quick to be on the watch-out list of the 2011 rising sensations.

The album opened the door of opportunities in the bigger space and the rest they say is history.

Burna Boy curated a playlist for Spotify’s new Afro Hub, part of its Global Cultures initiative. And Lyor Cohen, global head of music at YouTube, mentioned Burna Boy in a 2018 Billboard interview about the African music market. “We know the crossover potential is immense,” he said. How Burna Boy has broken records with his consistency in the game for years

In 2019, Burna Boy released his game-changing album, “African Giant” and while it didn’t win the Grammy’s Best World Album category in 2020, it was a global success.

Likewise, he won an Edison award in the World Album category for the project, and the Best International Act at the MOBO Awards on 9 December, shaking off competition from Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, and Roddy Ricch.

The album’s acceptance and universal triumph was a result of the immense change and hard work Burna put into the making.

Being in the shadows for too long, Odogwu decided to take a spin on the international spaces.

Hit songs from the project include; On The Low, Dangote, Anybody, and so on!

Fast-forward to the following year, Burna gave another shot with the project, Twice As Tall.

With consistency, Twice As Tall, finally won a Grammy for Best Global Album in 2021 – giving the self-acclaimed Odogwu another chance after he lost to Angelique Kidjo the previous year.

This made him the first Nigerian and the first Afrobeat artist to do so making this is a historical win.

He added another achievement to his repertoire at the BET awards 2021 where he won the Best International Act.

With this win, Burna Boy becomes the first African artiste to bag three records and wins consecutively, having won the BET Award in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

If one thing is certain, it is the consistency Burna has put into making music and the fruits it has yielded!
