Have you ever imagined how a Wizkid and Davido collaboration might sound?
I mean, we’ve all had that notion pass through our heads at some point and imagine how Wizkid and Davido collaboration would sound like.
Fans would give anything to have these two on the same song because they are the top stars in the industry.
We literally wake up every day longing for collaborations with our favourite musicians (particularly Starboy and OBO), but it appears that they have some sort of self-pride that hinders our requests from being fulfilled.
These musicians either don’t realize how much people seek partnerships, or they do and choose to let their ego take centre stage.
If given the opportunity, we will almost certainly go to whatever length to make a Wizkid-Davido collaboration a reality.
The Nigerian music business is undoubtedly the country’s largest, with hundreds of creative superstars vying for attention through their music and numerous collaborations, but Wizzy and David aren’t finding it among themselves.
A duet between the two superstars is unquestionably at the top of the list of the most eagerly anticipated music collaborations of all time (Nigeria).
But then, they have denied us the pleasure of listening to a combination of energetic deliveries (Davido) and sweet melodies (Wizkid).
Though we’ve heard them on the same tracks before, this only happens when an international artiste calls on their services.
They have once been at the opposite ends of each other, but appear to have squashed their beef.
We’ve seen them supporting each other when it comes to concerts, album releases and sales, endorsement deals and even single releases.
But what’s still delaying their collaboration?
Despite being on good terms, Wizkid and Davido are still finding it hard to decide who makes the first call between them.
This might be credited to the fact that these two are the only artists in Nigeria whose success are often compared to that of Messi and Ronaldo.
In an interview with Soundcity’s Moet Abebe back in 2018, Davido spoke on why he has not recorded a song with Wizkid.
He said collaboration with Starboy would not be planned but have to come naturally in order to have the best.
“On my collaboration with Wizkid, I feel like if it will happen, it will happen naturally,” Davido told Moet. “If we plan it, we might not do our best. Whenever the time is right, it will happen,” the ‘Assurance‘ singer said.
Yeah, I agree with Davido on the song coming naturally at the right time, but when will that be? When will they find the time to record something for their fans who have longed for this to happen?
It is probably true that if the song doesn’t come naturally, they might not do their best, but does it have to be one song? I mean, Olamide and Wizkid have recorded several songs together and they’ve only released a few.
Some of the released ones don’t even sound well to our ears, but yet we take it because we love both artists. Why can’t they (Davido and Wizkid) take the same step?!
Speaking on what they would bring to the table for the collaboration:
Wizkid has the skill, charisma and drives which is obvious to everyone. His music is approached from thousands of ways and the end-product is certainly a pop song in which you could find deeper layers.
He handles music like an everyday routine (i.e workout); that can be seen in his freestyle which only makes him look like someone who is just stretching his muscles before the actual workout…that’s how good he is.
He makes every song sound easy…
Davido is much more different. No doubt that his passion for making music is contagious and he does appear to be a communal effort.
Making music for him is all both strategy and talent; When you dig deep into his biggest songs, you’d find out that there are always third parties involved or an inspiration that comes from trends.
He has a complex process to arriving at his music, and it works for him!
Now let’s imagine a combination of diverse ways of making music between these two superstars.
As I mentioned above, Davido mostly pays people to write his songs, just for him to put in that energetic deliveries of his to turn into a hit.
Now, with a collaboration with Wizkid, he would probably not need an external service because he got that in Wizzy.
Wizkid would work on writing the song lyrics, the song arrangements and maybe make some tweaks to the beat while Davido only has to focus on tipping Wizzy off the latest trend that they can use in making the hit track.
In a nutshell, I believe collaboration between Wizkid and Davido would be a BANGER!!
