Hilda Baci opens up on toughest moment during cooking marathon.
After her record-breaking achievement, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci has revealed the toughest moment of her cooking marathon.
The 27-year-old chef broke the Guinness World Record for the longest period spent cooking alone on May 15 to make history.
Hilda Baci beat the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019 by cooking continuously for 100 hours.
She started cooking on May 11, 2023 and finished late on May 15. She prepared more than 200 dinners for the event’s astounding turnout of more than 4,000 guests.
In a recent interview with Pulse, Hilda talked about her accomplishment and said that the first six hours of the marathon were the hardest since she had to pray for endurance.
While appreciating the love and support, Hilda Baci said, “I am so amazed at the outpouring of love from Nigerians towards achieving this record. The first six hours were the toughest for me, I had to pray to God for strength.
“I appreciate everyone who took time out to support and encourage me by visiting the venue to cheer me on or driving the conversation on social platforms.
“Your unwavering passion to see me succeed through this attempt is heartfelt. I am grateful to my family, the various teams that worked with me on this project, and fans from all over the world who kept the passion going.’’
The World Record Office will confirm the events before the Guinness Book of Records attempt is approved. Making sure the attempt is accurately measured, standardized, and verified will be part of this.
