‘I wanted to be an entrepreneur’—Gyakie reveals her unexpected path to musical success
Ghanaian Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Gyakie, has shared a surprising revelation about her career, disclosing that her initial aspiration was to become an entrepreneur, not a musician.
During an appearance on The Day Show with Berla Mundi, the “Forever” hitmaker revealed that before entering the university, she aimed to pursue a path in entrepreneurship. Gyakie enrolled in International Business at KNUST with the intention of venturing into business.
However, her career took an unexpected turn when she met her producer, Sosa, on the KNUST campus through a friend. Following their introduction, Sosa sent her a beat, which eventually became her first single on streaming platforms. Gyakie realized her songwriting ability as she listened to the beat, marking the start of her journey in the music industry.
“So before I got into the university because that’s where everything started for me. Before I went to KNUST I just wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to be getting money so I studied International Business in KNUST until I met my producer, Sosa on campus through a friend,” Gyakie revealed.
Since then, Gyakie has released several hits, including “Something” and her recent track “Rent Free,” which has been gaining widespread attention on social media platforms.
