When Gyakie allowed fans to ask her questions on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, a fan inquired about her favourite Nigerian artist, to which she replied, “Asa.”

Another fan inquired as to which musicians she desired to collaborate with, and she once again mentioned the veteran artist.

Gyakie, whose father is Nana Acheampong, a famed Ghanaian highlife performer, has always expressed her admiration for Asa.

She admitted to Teen Vogue earlier this year that her sound was influenced by her father, Asa, and R2Bees‘ Omar Sterling. To quote her,

“I draw from Asa and Omar Sterling. They both have something I fell in love with, that is the uniqueness in their sound and their lyrical content.

Growing up I watched their stage performances, I read through the lyrics of their songs, even to the point of following up on any interviews they have had, their speech. Omar Sterling inspired two songs on my EP.”
