Following the recent accomplishment by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, Guinness World Records released an official statement.
Baci, a Nigerian from Akwa Ibom State, broke the record for the longest cooking time by one individual, clocking in at 100 hours. Baci outperformed Indian chef Lata Tondon, who finished the feat in 2019 in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.
The statement, released on their official website read; “She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.
“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.
“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.”
According to the British reference body, one of its spokespersons said they “are looking forward to receiving the evidence for its Records Management Team to review before we can confirm the record is official.”
In an effort to shatter the current record for the longest cooking session by a single person, Hilda Baci finished a 100-hour cooking marathon on Monday night.
The Indian chef Lata Tondon previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, which the Nigerian chef broke on Monday at 8:32 a.m.
Tondon herself accomplished the achievement in the year 2019 after preparing food for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.
Despite breaking Tondon’s record, Hilda persisted and declared at 4:00 pm that she was prepared to complete 100 hours of marathon cooking.
As of Monday night at 8:00 pm, the 27-year-old Nigerian had been cooking for 100 hours.
