Ghanaian hip hop musician Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has asked the Accra Circuit Court to order the police to hand over his gun to him.

On October 21, the rapper was initially arraigned on a charge of exhibiting arms and ammunition, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Counsel for Medikal Alice Nimako Debrah Ablormeti, carrying a brief for the substantive counsel, informed the court on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

The Counsel stated that they have not been served with the processes and disclosures to properly mount their defence.

She also asked the court to issue an order directing the police to hand over the pistol to him.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, asked the court for an extension of time to submit processes, disclosures, and witness statements, as well as serve them on the accused.

The court presided over by His Honour Emmanuel Essandoh has asked lawyers to come up with a formal application regarding the release of the gun.

The prosecution’s request for an extension of time to file their processes was also granted and the lawsuit was postponed until February 15, 2022.
