Getafe keen on signing Mason Greenwood permanently from Manchester United following the loan move.
Getafe are reportedly considering making an offer for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, aiming to convince the club to part ways with the talented forward.
The Spanish club is looking to leverage Manchester United’s desire to trim their wage bill, but the English club is said to prefer loaning the 22-year-old for another season.
Greenwood made a surprising deadline-day loan move to Getafe to rebuild his career after dropping charges of attempted rape, which he had consistently denied.
Getafe is contributing £75,000 towards Greenwood’s salary, and he has made a positive impact, scoring one goal and providing two assists in eight league outings. His contract with Manchester United is set to expire in 2025.
Despite the successful stint in Spain, there are rumors of a potential return to Old Trafford, especially as transfer expert Paul Mitchell, rumored to become United’s sporting director, was recently in Spain to witness Getafe’s victory over Cadiz. Greenwood is reported to be content and settled in Madrid with his partner and daughter.
