Galatasaray present Victor Osimhen ahead of record-breaking permanent move from Napoli

Turkish giants Galatasaray have made headlines across Europe after completing the historic permanent signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli in a blockbuster deal, reportedly worth €75 million, shattering the Turkish Super Lig’s all-time transfer record.
The move was finalised on Wednesday evening, July 30, 2025, following intense negotiations with Napoli officials in Milan, culminating in an agreement that surpasses the previous transfer record of €20 million, set during Youssef En-Nesyri’s switch to Fenerbahçe in 2024.

Despite strong competition from several European clubs and Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Hilal, Osimhen opted for a return to Istanbul, citing his connection with the Galatasaray fans and his desire to build on last season’s success.
The 26-year-old forward spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a phenomenal run, guiding the club to a league and cup double while emerging as Super Lig’s top scorer with 26 goals. He also set a new record for the most goals in a single season by a foreign player, netting 36 goals across all competitions.
Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul around 7:00 PM CET was widely publicized, with Galatasaray providing live updates on social media. One of them is flight tracking—a move that demonstrated just how pivotal the signing is for the club’s ambitions.

During his time with Napoli, the forward etched his name in Italian football history by helping the club lift the 2022/23 Serie A title, their first in 33 years, scoring 26 goals and providing 4 assists that season. However, tensions reportedly surfaced between Osimhen and the Napoli hierarchy the following year, which paved the way for Galatasaray to swoop in with a loan offer.
The love affair between Osimhen and Galatasaray fans blossomed rapidly, with his passion, work ethic, and clinical finishing winning hearts across Turkey. His permanent return is seen not only as a monumental signing but also as a statement of intent by the reigning Turkish champions as they aim to dominate both domestically and in European competitions.
With his legacy at Galatasaray already growing, Osimhen now looks set to elevate his impact on Turkish football to legendary status.
