Gabriel Jesus identifies the Liverpool player he despises competing against.
Arsenal Star Gabriel Jesus has named the Liverpool star he dislikes to play against as he heaped praise on his Brazil teammate and Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker.
Both Jesus and Alisson are preparing for the World Cup, where they are hoping to end their nation’s 20-year wait for the biggest prize in football.
Brazil are one of if not the favourites to win the tournament in Qatar thanks to Tite’s squad, which is so loaded with elite athletes that Jesus’ spot on the team was not assured and Alisson is competing with Ederson of Man City for a spot in the starting lineup.
Jesus knows all about Ederson, having been teammates with the goalkeeper from 2017 to 2022, but when discussing the quality of his teammates with Sky Sports, the 25-year-old instead spoke highly of the Liverpool keeper.
‘I have played against Alisson in Brazil and he is so difficult,’ Jesus said. ‘Two times I went against him one-v-one and he defended my shots. They were good shots and he defended them because Alisson is so big.

‘Brazil have really good keepers, even with Weverton in Palmeiras, he is so good. We are lucky to have them.’
Jesus will be relieved to be playing alongside Alisson for once after scoring just twice against him in the 10 matches in which they have faced off at the club level.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli also made Brazil’s squad and was also complimentary of Alisson, adding: ‘He’s so good.
‘When I went to the national team last time, when we played against Japan and South Korea, I remember when we were in training and I came one-v-one with him and it’s so difficult, he’s so big.’
When Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-2 earlier this season, Martinelli was able to get the better of Alisson.
Brazil’s World Cup campaign in Qatar will get underway on November 24 against Serbia, and then the South Americans will play Switzerland and Cameroon.
