Everton manager, Frank Lampard, and Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has reacted to former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, following his retirement from football.
Recall, On the 27 of September 2022, Mikel Obi, confirmed his retirement from football in a post through his social media account.
After a productive career with the Nigerian national team and at the club level, the 35-year-old Nigerian retired.
The two football players who have teamed up with Mikel Obi on the field reacted to the player’s retirement from football on social media.
Lampard recalled the time he shared the pitch with Mikel Obi while Chelsea was defeating Bayern Munich in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final.
Additionally, the Englishman wished the former Super Eagles captain luck for the foreseeable future.

In a post via Instagram, Lampard wrote:
“Congratulations on your amazing career mate. A pleasure playing next to you and sharing that beautiful 120 minutes in Munich with you. Good luck for all that’s coming.”
Musa, who recently joined the Turkish club Sivasspor, on the other hand, wished Mikel Obi greater success while highlighting his leadership abilities.
The former Leicester City star said that Mikel Obi had been an exemplary player.
In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Musa wrote:
“You have been an exemplary player and done great things in your career. Here’s wishing you the best as you retire today. Cheers to bigger things ahead and best wishes to you and the family.”
